Paris!

The next morning, we went to the airport and took a plane from Barcelona to Paris. Vueling airlines said our bags were too heavy to carry on, so we had to check them, which was annoying. The train ride to the city center took about an hour and then we found our hostel, Young and Happy, on Rue Moufftard in the popular Latin Quarter.

Rue Moufftard turned out to be a pretty well known street with a market, traditional French restaurants, and bars.  We immediately ate lunch, because we were all starving, at a restaurant on our street called La Petite Provence.  We ordered the fixed 2 course menu, each having an avocado salad, which was really good and refreshing, then Cara had the chicken with a cream sauce, and Jamie and Jose had steak with pepper sauce. We also split a bottle of rose wine.  Afterwards, we walked around the market for a little bit waiting to check in to our rooms at 4:00pm.  We stopped at a bakery and each ordered different pastries.  They were a great ending to our delicious lunch.  When we were able to check into our hostel, we decided to take a nap since we were all exhausted from the traveling that morning.

After our nap, we got up and decided to do some sightseeing.  We went to the Cathedral of Notre Dame and took some pictures since it was closed already.  We then watched a street performer dance and then decided to continue on exploring the city.  We walked to a large square where there was a huge TV screen of the French Open tennis tournament and we saw a few minutes of Federer beating Djokovic in the semifinals. Then we walked to the Louvre to try to get Paris Museum Passes, which we heard were a great value if you planned on doing more than a few museums. The ticket desk was closed already, but we got some cool sunset pictures by the Louvre and we decided to head back first thing the next morning.

We decided to walk back to our hotel instead of taking the metro and it was a very long walk. About ¾ of the way, we stopped at a crepes place, Crepes A Go Go, for dinner and it was delicious and there was free wifi.  Afterwards we made the trek back to our hostel and decided to call it a night so we could cram as much as possible in the next day.
