Gordes and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse

The next day would be our last in Provence, but our bus didn’t leave til 11pm so we had a full day. We got out around 10:30am and headed to a small town called Gordes. The town was built into a mountain and the scenes were so pretty from the top of the mountain where we were. There was a market and we walked around and bought a bag for Cara, some strawberries, some bread and some pastries. Georgia and Jane bought tshirts.

After the market, we went to meet up with Seth and Alli’s friends that got married earlier that week, Jenny and Tomas. We met them in a town called Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and we ate lunch a little café along the river.  This town was built at the bottom of a mountain and there was a river running through and around it. There were bridges everywhere and the scenery was so pretty.

After lunch, Jamie saw a shop that had a hat that he wanted and he bargained the lady down from 25 euros to 20 euros. Now he has a new adventure hat. After this, we went to find a candy shop that Seth read about that you could see how they make the candy. When we got there, they had just stopped making the candy for the day but when they saw Jane and Georgia, they decided to make an exception and make one more batch. We got to see the whole process from them boiling the sugar to the making the stripes and color and then taste the final product.  We tasted an orange and a licorice.  Afterwards we obviously had to buy some of the candy.

When we got back to the villa, the owners were hosting a cocktail party for all the guests with wine and traditional French appetizers, so we went to that for a little bit. After, we played with the twins some more, and then had to head off to catch our bus to Barcelona.
